A tale of love and Hate

Nail polish November 1, 2013 Naomi

I am a big fan of Essie polishes. They go on the nail well, last a good few days and the colour choice is great. I was well aware of the hype that surrounded Essie’s Fiji before I even purchased it. I had read some good reviews and seen it on the nails of beauty Gurus on Youtube. What a lovely colour I said, I want that colour I said. People rave about it I said.

Fast forward a few months and here I am . Essie Fiji is my Nemesis. I love the colour of it. It reminds me of pink Tippex! It is a lovely creamy, girly, pale pink colour that is so wearable on the nails. It looks equally good on the toes, especially if you have a bit of a tan. Colour wise it is up there with my all time favourites. I tell everyone I know how pretty the colour is. This is the Love part.

Now to the Hate part of the post. I loathe how awful it is to apply!!!! It goes on streaky and watery and looks awful. I have tried a base coat first, it did not help. I have tried leaving a long time before coats to let it dry properly, it did not help. I hate applying it. It looks terrible unless you layer up the coats and take hours to apply it. Why Essie why??? I love the colour of it when it is in the bottle, I love the colour of twenty layers on my fingertips. Why is the formulation not better?????????.

At £7.99 Essie polishes are not the cheapest out there on the market. I have tried other colours and loved them. I so wanted my Essie Fiji to be wonderful. The weird thing is instead of just throwing it in the bin and giving up I am determined to keep applying the b****y thing and persevering. If you have found a magic way to make Fiji work for you please leave me a comment below and put me out of my misery. Also if you know of a good Dupe let me know.

For now I will continue to look through my Nail polish collection and go ooh Essie Fiji what a beautiful colour, I love this. I wonder if I can make it look good this time.

I haven’t actually tried Essie nail polishes, but I’ve heard lots of split opinions about them. I always stick to Ciate or Nail Inc as they’re the only polishes I trust.

I bought an essie nail polish too before the summer in mint candy apple and I wasn’t too happy with the way it applied either as I had spent 14euros on it! But if you shake it really well I did find it went on a lot smoother another thing I did was I left in the fridge for a few minutes before I used it this is supposed to make it easier to apply and I guess it did a bit !
    Hope this helped !

I totally agree! Essie polishes do not go on very well. I wanted that light Tiffany blueish one forever, Mint Candy Apple I think, and then I tried it at a friend’s house and it was the world polish ever! So hard to apply and all kinds of streaky. I hate it when you anticipate something like that and then it sucks. Bummer!

I have had some Essie polishes that have been very good, seems they have some hits and misses. Thanks for leaving a comment Brittnee.x
