Autumn/Winter skin saviours.

Face and Body October 25, 2013 Naomi

Now that the weather has dropped colder{I know it’s not snowing yet but it is chilly!} I thought I would share with you what products I like to use to save me from the harsh temperatures.

Because of the coldness outside, plus the drying effects of the central heating, it is inevitable that it will start to show on the skin. Dry, flaky patches are the result of all this, and so we are looking for products that are great at putting moisture back on to our face and body.

These are the products that I turn to when I need a moisture boost….

1. Lanolips 101 ointment. So called because it has 101 uses. I love this product, it is made from 100% medical grade Lanolin, which as I have mentioned before is the grease that is scraped off sheep fleece. Before you say “gross, I’m not trying that” it does not smell or taste of sheep! It is brilliant at moisturising lips, nails, cuticles and any dry patches on the skin. I like to pop it in my work bag or ‘purse’ if you are American and take it everywhere with me. It is very, very thick, think the consistency of Vaseline. It also comes in coloured versions to use as a lip balm.

2. Elemis pro- collagen marine cream. What a fabulous moisturiser. Light in texture yet powerful enough to hydrate even the driest of skins, this is an award winning product that really delivers. Containing padina pavonica which is a marine extract that promotes the repair and protection of the skins cells, this is not a cheap product retailing for £63 for 50ml! but I get mine from QVC at a much cheaper price. It also smells really good and as yet has not broke me out.

3. Elemis skin nourishing shower cream. One of my newer favourites, this is my winter shower gel of choice. Smells comforting, like a baby product, it is packed with nourishing ingredients such as wheat germ oil, macadamia and jojoba oils and camellia. I have super dry skin on my body and this stops it from being itchy and tight. Free from parabens and synthetic ingredients it is gentle yet works so well. I Love this product so much!. Elemis are great at producing top notch skincare and bathing products.

4. L’Oreal mythic oil. A great hair oil to keep it in tip top condition and protect it from drying out. I use this sparingly and avoid the roots, but it leaves hair super shiny and easy to comb through. Packed with avocado oil and grape seed oil it does not leave hair lank or weigh it down, and my hair is fine so that is important. I use a small amount but the bottle lasts for ages!.

5. Lush bubblegum lip scrub. Tastes so good!!! exactly like sweet bubblegum. Made with sugar so after you have scrubbed your lips with it you can lick it off. Just a warning do put the lid back on tightly or it does start to dry up a little. I use this in the bath as it is a bit messy. great little scrub to keep lips flake free.

I agree with you on the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine cream, it’s lovely and one of the products that I use religiously, and although expensive, a little goes a long way so you don’t need to use too much on your face.

I want to try the L’Oreal oil, as I have had my hair highlighted this summer, so is not in the best condition, so this sounds perfect for me.

    Thanks for sharing
