For me one of the Nicest ways to pamper yourself is a trip to the Salon. If I had the money I would be there every week, but practicality and Bank balance mean I go when I can, and when I do go I always enjoy being Pampered.
I have wanted to get Gel nails for awhile now. I have had Manicures before but not for a long time, I tend to do the at home thing with the cuticle oil and a buffer, but Nothing beats letting a professional get their hands on you. I went along to my local Salon where I have my hair cut and they have a nail bar at the back. Tracy my Nail technician was lovely and we chatted non stop for a full hour. Gel nails for those that don’t know are a lot more hard wearing and stronger than a regular nail polish. The process involves a gel being applied to your nails and then it hardens under a U.V light. Once this happens you can get on with your day, no more sitting in the salon for half an hour with a magazine waiting for your polish to dry. The colour choice is vast and you can have glitter polish too. I settled for a shade called princess which is a sparkly Barbie pink, perfect for me!.
Gel polish is tough but it is not invincible so it is advisable to wear gloves when washing pots etc, got to be honest and say I probably won’t bother with that and see how I go. I love my finished nails, they look so glossy and well done. I will definitely be going back to have them done again.
There are a lot of horror stories about of Gels ruining your nails and of people ripping off the polish and damaging the nail underneath. The trick is to soak them in acetone soaked cotton wool for up to twenty minutes, then it just peels away. Inbetween time I will be using my nail oil to keep my nails in tip top condition. I will let you know how long I go before I get a chip, I am told they should last a few weeks.
Do you like Gel Nails?? Leave a comment, I read every one.
