Boots Advent Calendar {contains Spoilers!}

Face and Body Makeup October 11, 2013 Naomi

Stop right now if you want to buy the calendar and don’t want to know what is inside, if you like me are not interested in surprises then read on. Firstly I will say I did not get sent this for free like the established bloggers, secondly I will say I opened every door and used the products, and I don’t care that it is not xmas or that you should open a day at a time!! Thirdly I will not go over every product inside or this post will be huge, I will just talk about a few little gems that I love.

Starting off with a nail polish, Nails inc, Porchester square. This is a beautiful everyday colour that is described by them as a muted mushroom colour. I have been wearing it for a few days now and I have to say no chips as of yet{without a top coat, I’m lazy}. I love this shade and as this is a mini bottle I will be repurchasing the full size when it runs out. I am wearing it in the picture above. Getting into it proved difficult though, the top was on firmly and my hubby had to take it off with pliers!

Next I am loving the Vichy liftactiv serum 10 eyes and lashes. This is a eye serum that you also apply to the lashes to strengthen them. I am a huge fan of this and I am trying to use it sparingly so the tiny tube does not run out. Ultra moisturising it softens my fine lines and plumps up the eye area. Containing Rhamnose which is a natural ingredient used to stimulate activity in the dermis, plus ceramide to fortify lashes, this is a great little product that I will continue to slot into my night time regime. I will just add that my eyelashes are fairly long and thick so no noticeable difference yet, but it is early days.

Another product that I love is the Balmi lip balm. This is a cute little design with a little cord attached to fix it to your phone or bag or purse. I got the green one which is mint flavoured. Application is easy because it is shaped like a pyramid, it goes on well and feels soft and silky on the lips. I put this on before bed and I did wake up with soft hydrated lips. I will be putting this in my coat pocket when I walk my dads bulldog and the weather is bad.

Soap and glory clean girls shower gel is another little gem This has a lovely soft scent of magnolia and vanilla and makes your skin very soft. In the bath it lathers well and leaves behind that lovely fragrance. Not as moisturising as my Elemis shower gel, it still is a good product for winter and the little travel bottle is a generous size.

The 17 blow out mascara is another good find. I am not a massive mascara wearer but I do like this one. Enriched with argan oil to condition the lashes, it goes on well and does not clump. I will say the brush is huge and I did poke myself in the eye when I was doing the inner corner lashes!! Other than that it did define my lashes and give volume.

Lastly if  you are wondering if you should buy the Calendar then I will say it is well worth the money. It is £30 but the value is £65. If you like a mixed bag of products then give it a try. One negative for me is the amount of perfume samples, I got 4 0r 5 which is far too many, one or two would have been plenty, and I think this is where the calendar falls down. I would have liked more skincare samples instead or a lipgloss, which I thought they would include, but sadly no. I will link the calendar here.
