Epsom Salt Baths

Face and Body July 24, 2015 Naomi

I love a good bath, light a few candles, pop on a bit of music and enjoy. Never found the appeal of a shower, unless you are talking the convenience of it all, certainly not relaxing in my book.

Epsom salt baths are designed for after exercise to soothe tired and achey muscles. I first discovered them after hurting my neck and shoulder after a particularly strenuous pilates session. I read a bit of research online that said most of us are short in magnesium and that along with the muscle soothing ability, Epsom salts are great for boosting your magnesium levels. Magnesium is used for normal nerve and muscle function and keeping the heart beat steady.

Epsom salt baths are also great for detox, helping the body flush out toxins. I like to dry body brush first to bring toxins to the surface, and then soak in the bath.  They are also supposed to be good for de-stressing the body, something I am sure we could all do with!.

I bathe In the Epsom salts about once a week, I tip a load in the bath{not accurate or scientific but I’m sure you know what I mean} and then soak for about twenty minutes. I think you are supposed to use two cups per bath but I throw in more for good measure.

I do find they help with achey muscles and I have read they are good for people with eczema, which I sometimes suffer with, so all good stuff. I use the Westlab Epsom salts from Boots or Amazon but there are many other different brands available.

Have you tried Epsom salts??. Leave a comment.

Well, seeing as I am recovering from another back op (last week!), I reckon I will be looking to purchase this product. Thanks for highlighting it.
