Not too long ago I wrote a blog post about the range of Makeup called Essence. All the bits and pieces I used I liked, some were better quality than others, but the nail polish I have tried again and I have to say other than the glitter polish that I loved, I am now really liking the gel range.
Priced at around £2 these polishes are not going to break the bank. The bottle tells us that they do not need the traditional uv lamp that most gel polishes require and that they last 60% longer than a regular nail polish. The no lamp bit is correct but the 60% bit is ambiguous to say the least. In my opinion they do last well, the longest wear I have got is five days which is pretty good all being said.
Colour choice is quite limited and I suppose the range will build with time. I find the wide brush is excellent to get good coverage and two coats leaves a good colour payoff. The top coat leaves a nice shine to the nails and though it is not in the league of a seche vite it does a good job for the price.
If you want the all singing all dancing proper gel nails done at the salon then the two quid imitation is not going to cut it, but if you want a cheap high street version then I say give it a try. The colours above are ‘Do you speak love’ ‘Forgive me’ and ‘#lucky'[LtoR]
There is a base coat for the range and I have read that the colour is even better with that applied, but I am far too lazy for all that faff so top coat alone it is.
