I am not a massive buyer of mac makeup. I do like it, but then I find things on the high street for half the price that I like just as much, and I can’t justify spending the money on a mac product instead.
Mac Hue is a light, sheer, pinky nude colour that at first glance looks hard to wear. It is very sheer and so unless you have smooth conditioned lips it is going to show up every bit of dry skin. I always apply a lip balm first or scrub my lips with the Bubblegum lip scrub from Lush, then I wait a few minutes and apply my lipstick. This I find works best and makes the lipstick go on smoothly.
I Find that Mac lipsticks especially the glaze type like Hue are not particularly long lasting. On me it tends to last no more than a couple of hours and then I need to re-apply. I do love the look of it though on my lips, it looks creamy and glossy and I like how pale the colour is. I have fair skin and on my skin tone it looks nice, I am not sure how well it would look on a darker complexion with it being so pale.
As it is not a strong lip colour it is easy to apply and the texture is quite balm like. Fragrance wise some people have said it smells of vanilla but mine does not particularly smell of anything.
Overall I really like this lipstick for the look on the lip. I find the colour to be very flattering and I find myself wearing it quite often. I don’t think I will buy many more Mac lipsticks unless I find a shade I really fall in love with. At fifteen pounds it is not the worlds cheapest lipstick and you can buy good if not better lipsticks on the high street. I know a lot of Beauty girls rave about Mac and I do love it as a brand, but I am not always so ready to justify the price. It is not the most moisturising lip product I own either and if I am honest I prefer my Revlon Lip Butters.
