If you have greasy, problematic, acne prone skin then this is the cleanser for you. I get spots at that time of the month, I also have a greasy T zone but I can get dry cheeks and eyes, so I wanted something that was gentle enough to be able to use all over the face.
Michael Todd products are in my opinion just Brilliant! I love the fact that they try to keep it all as organic and natural as possible. No added chemicals or Parabens and only pure ingredients that you are happy to put on your face. I am not a lover of Parabens, I know there is not firm evidence either way to say if they are safe or not, but for me I always lean more towards the organic products instead.
The gel cleanser is as the name suggests full of activated charcoal. At first glance it looks like you are putting grey soapy clay on your face but don’t be put off as it really does work. Charcoal works by bringing grease and impurities to the surface of the skin so they can be eliminated. It also deep down cleanses so it is great for drawing out blackheads and purifying the skin. I found that the cleanser made my skin look so much fresher and brighter after use. I don’t get a huge amount of blackheads but my skin tone does look better.
One of the most well used ingredients in Michael Todd skincare is Aloe and this accounts for the lovely fresh smell that the cleanser has. Aloe is very soothing to the skin and helps calm any redness.
The bottle states that this is not only a cleanser, but also a makeup remover and toner. I found that every scrap of makeup was removed and it left my skin clean but not stripped. It also contains sugar cane and maple to gently exfoliate the skin. It is worth knowing you can use this to remove eye makeup as it has a sulfate free no tears formula!.
The only down side to this cleanser is the fact that currently it is only available in the U.S so us Brits are having to pay quite a bit in postage to ship the products over. I don’t mind this but I am looking forward to the day I can just get it over here.
I love this cleanser, it works well, smells fresh and helps with spots, what’s not to like. If you don’t mind paying for shipping then the Michael Todd website is linked here. Related products that I also love include the Jojoba Charcoal facial scrub, this is another fabulous product for oily skin. This cleanser is so good it made my January favourites post, I will also link that here if you have not read it.
