New Year New You???

Chit chat January 5, 2016 Naomi

Happy New year Everyone!! Now that January is upon us it is always at this time that we look to diets and getting healthy. After eating our own body weight in chocolate and roast dinners we find ourselves saying things like “pass me that lettuce” or “let’s see if weight watchers is worth another try”, o.k maybe we don’t all say that but we all seem to want to start the year off by at least fitting into our Jeans.

For me the New year New you malarkey is all about being more healthy. We all know by now how important it is to get our five a day, and that living off a diet of chips, cake and Kebabs is the road to obesity and illness, so I am trying to be more mindful about what I put in my mouth.

I am not a smoker and I drink in moderation{most of the time} but I do have a very, very sweet tooth, sugar is my downfall. I do however have a massive interest in health fads and Holland and Barrett. Coconut water, green juice, vitamins, omega 3, collagen drinks, wheatgrass shots, all of these are consumed by me on a regular basis. Do they do any good?? Jury is still out I think, but it makes me feel better so that’s the main thing. I do also subject my daughter to all of the above minus the collagen, sheer torture she calls it, everyone of them tastes disgusting to her.

I am also trying to swap the things I like for healthier versions, I have swapped my white rice and pasta for wholemeal, I already eat salad everyday for lunch at work, and I am trying to eat more raw fruits and veggies. Now I am no skinny Minnie, back in my teens I was a size ten and very slim, years have passed and though I am now only a 12/14 I will always be a curvy girl, I am semi ok with that, for me this is about long term health benefits rather than size zero.

Now don’t get me wrong I am not a saint, I still love a cheeky Chinese or a dairy milk or two but from now on I am going to think quality over quantity when it comes to food. We all know that January resolutions last roughly two weeks and then it all goes out the window, so I am making this a lifestyle change rather than a diet or weight loss thing. Wish me luck, and keep those chocolate digestives out of my reach!!!.

Good luck! I also need to start making healthier choices, but I love chocolate and cheese way too much 🙁

I agree with the whole post! I used to be a ten as well and I’m now a curvy 14 but that’s okay 🙂 Fingers crossed we avoid the sugar ey!
