Always on the look out for that long lasting nail polish I thought I would try out the latest in the long line of Gel polishes that have popped up in the beauty world just lately. I do like having shellac gel nails but at twenty pounds a time for two weeks wear it can be expensive, so cheaper alternatives are always welcome.
The Rimmel polish is a two step programme. Firstly you apply the colour, two coats and then let it dry. Next up is the top coat that seals it all in and is supposed to make it all last a bit longer than your bog standard nail polish, but without the need for the uv lamp you get with a salon nail gel.
Rimmel tells us this then should last for 14 days with no chips. Behave yourselves Rimmel . Does it last?? Yes it does, it did not chip on me for at least four to five days and then it was only one nail. Quite impressive I thought but not 14 days!!.
I do think the top coat gives a lovely gloss to the nails. It is not quite on par with salon gel nails though. For me the finish, the gel shine and the ‘thickness’ if that makes any sense makes a huge difference to the nails, and I think you will only get this from the Nail bar not the high street. I have popped a pic of my gel nails above.
The colour I have is 023 ‘Grape sorbet’, a beautiful rose pink that looks so pretty on the nails. Application is good, two coats does give good colour pay off. Rimmel nail polish I find are always good, just not as good as salon nails! Looks like I will have to book my next appointment at the salon….
Which nail polish brand do you rate??….
