The benefits of Wheatgrass.

Chit chat August 18, 2013 Naomi

Now I am not the most healthy person on the planet. I will happily polish off a Chinese takeaway or a big family bag of minstrels, and not even care less about calories, fat, and all that bad stuff. But that is not to say that I don’t have a strange obsession with easy options that are good for you.

I am a lover of fruits and veggies and I am no salad dodger, but I am also a mum with a job and a busy life ,so anything fast be it smoothies or vitamin juice drinks is a god send to me. That is probably why wheatgrass powder appeals to me so much. You basically measure out a spoonful of powder, mix it with water and then drink to get all the benefits.

Let’s talk taste, for some {my mum included} it tastes horrible, “like grass clippings” were her exact words. Call me a weirdo but I like it, I even look forward to drinking it. It won’t be to everybody’s taste, but I will say you do get used to it over time. My daughter also now enjoys drinking it.

Now for the benefits, well wheatgrass is said to be packed full of chlorophyll which is claimed to rid the body of toxins, improve the immune system, and promote good skin health. It also contains vitamins, minerals and essential enzymes which the body needs for health. It promotes healthy red blood cells which in turn oxygenate the body and improves the cell turnover and removal of toxins from the body. Now I don’t know how much of this is true, but I am willing to give it a chance and hope for the best.

I take Naturya organic whaeatgrass powder which comes in a 200g packet and Is available from most health food shops. I try and drink it every morning with breakfast and so far, though I don’t feel I could run a marathon, I do feel I have more energy and my skin has been very, very good{this may be a coincidence}.
What are your thoughts on wheatgrass,is it all hype????
