Worth all the hype??

Face and Body October 18, 2013 Naomi

I am a little late to the party when it comes to trying Bioderma. A lot of beauty gurus swear by it and it features in quite a few hauls or blog posts. Because it has not been so readily available over here in the U.K I never really bothered to try it. I  decided to order it on a whim and give it a shot.

Firstly it is quite expensive for what it is, add to that postage costs as you can’t just pick it up from the chemist, well not where I live anyway, and you really will have to be a fan to repurchase it. I ordered the 100ml bottle which is the smallest size, as I did not want to pay more for a bigger bottle and not like it. It says on the website that it is ideal for sensitive skin, which mine isn’t but as it is ultra mild I thought it would be versatile for most skin types.

The Bioderma{so the company tells us} is a micellar solution which is basically ‘oil held in water molecules that cleanses as gently as pure water’. {To all intents and purposes it does look like plain water, having no smell and no colour.}’ It removes all makeup including waterproof mascara and does not  irritate eyes’. I have read a few reviews that said it struggles with waterproof mascara, but as I use the regular kind I have not put this to the test.

Now for my findings. I found that it was very gentle on my skin and it did not break me out. On the eyes it removed all my mascara easily and did not make my eyes sting. My skin afterwards was left feeling very clean, even though I had not cleansed with a wash off cleanser as I normally do. As a quick fix when you are short on time/ lazy/Falling down drunk, I  think that Bioderma performs very well. I did not find that my skin was dry or tight after use and this is a big bonus.

Will I repurchase it?? maybe. It does perform well, but as I can’t just pick it up from my nearest Boots I don’t know if I will be a regular buyer. I do think it cleanses very well though and my skin feels clean and all my makeup is removed. I like that I don’t then have to use a separate product to take off my eye makeup, as that is far too much of a hassle in my book. I am keen to try the L’Oreal 3 in 1 micellar solution to see how it stacks up against it. If you have tried the L’Oreal one leave me a comment below and let me know how you rated it. As it is much cheaper to buy, if it works just as well you are better off purchasing it instead. Is Bioderma worth the hype? Time will tell, but for now I do like it.

On a side note I will say the little tubes/sachets that are in the picture are samples I was sent free to try, I have not got around to trying them yet so I left them out of the post.

I also haven’t tried this yet, but I am luckily off to Paris with some girlfriends in a few weeks, so hoping to pick up a couple of bottles whilst there.

The only micellar lotion I have just is L’Oreal 3 in 1, which is ok, but I find it does tend to leave a film on my skin, so would be good to compare the two.

We don’t have Bioderma in our country, Malaysia. I would love to try this makeup remover if it’s available in the market. We normally have variety of makeup removers from Taiwan and Japan, which are suitable for our skin 🙂

I’m later than you are – I bought a 100ml bottle around four months ago and haven’t got around opening it simply because the wet-wipe-and-face-wash method is too easy and I’m just darn lazy. #gigbloggers #giglove
